On Saturday 25 July 2026, on a rather scorching hot day in London, I represented Team Cordillera and had the privilege of participating in the Help for Heroes, London Military Landmarks Heroes Hike event. A mere 15-mile bimble around the famous military sites of London was completed to raise valuable funds for UK Armed Forces veterans, wounded service personnel and their families.
It was a glorious day, and we had the opportunity to meet like-minded people while stopping to take in some breathtaking sights and have the odd ice-cream! Many thanks to my teammates, Andy, Phil and Ross for including me in their team. Their friendship and sense of humour helped me maintain a good level of morale throughout and especially as the heat of the day turned what had started as a pleasant walk into something that felt suspiciously like a trek across the Sahara!!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers who did a marvellous job on keeping us on track and for the odd chocolate Mars Bar for that much needed energy rush. I would also like to say a huge thanks to everyone who donated to our team fundraising page and helped raise over £1300 for this really important charity.
